Advertising terms
The terms a space is sold on.
These apply to a space on a Saddleback Spotlight card. They are deliberately short. If something here does not suit your situation, say so before you book rather than after - we would rather agree something in writing than rely on either of us remembering a phone call.
Booking a space
Asking for a space through this website is an enquiry, not a purchase. A space is yours once we have confirmed your trade is open for that card and sent you an invoice, and it is held for you from that point. Nothing on this website takes payment.
Payment
Invoices are due within seven days of being issued, and before the card goes to print. A space that is not paid for before the print deadline may be released to somebody else - we will always ask first, because that is a phone call and not an automatic process.
Artwork and proofs
We will design your space from a logo, images and the offer you want to run, or take finished artwork at the right size. Either way you get a proof, and the card does not go to print without your sign-off on it.
If artwork or a sign-off misses the deadline for a card, we will move your space to the next mailing rather than print something you have not seen. What we will not do is print an unapproved space to make a date.
Exclusivity
One business per trade per card. Taking a space closes your trade for that mailing. It does not close it for future mailings unless you have booked those too, and it does not cover a business that describes itself differently but competes with you - we use judgement, and we will talk to you if a borderline case comes up.
Placement on the card
You choose a size, and where possible the position you asked for. A particular position is not guaranteed unless we have confirmed it in writing, because the layout of a card changes as it fills up - there are 18 spaces and they do not all sell in order.
Cancelling
Before artwork is approved, you can cancel and we will refund what you have paid. After it is approved, the space is committed: the printing is bought for the whole card at once, and a space pulled late is a hole in a card that is already paid for.
If something goes wrong with the printing
If we make a mistake that materially affects your space - the wrong artwork, an unreadable QR code, a phone number we typed incorrectly - we will put it right on the next card at our cost, or refund that space. That is the extent of what we can be liable for, and it is the same undertaking we would want from a supplier.
We cannot promise a particular number of calls, scans or customers. No honest advertising business can, and one that does is telling you something about itself.
What you are responsible for
That what you ask us to print is true, that you are entitled to use the images and logos you send us, and that any offer you advertise is one you will honour. If a claim on your space causes a problem, it is yours - we print what you approve.
